“Philanthropy continues to represent the best and surest way that alumni and friends can sustain our traditions of access and excellence for new generations of Penn Staters.”

A Message from the Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations

Very few moments have been more meaningful for me, as a fundraiser and as a Penn Stater, than our announcement on April 22 that A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence had surpassed its $2.1 billion goal.

I returned to my alma mater in 2017 as vice president for development and alumni relations—soon after the start of the campaign—for the same reason that nearly 700,000 supporters made gifts to the University over the last six years: I believe in the infinite potential of this institution to lead the way in higher education and the wider world.

As confetti showered the stage in the Bryce Jordan Center, our pride—a pride that carried this community through all the challenges we have faced together—was proven right. There is nothing that Penn State and Penn Staters cannot achieve.

This report revisits the April 22 celebration and other important highlights from the Greater Penn State campaign—but it also looks ahead to the impact your support will have far into the future.

Philanthropy continues to represent the best and surest way that alumni and friends can sustain our traditions of access and excellence for new generations of Penn Staters.

Your generosity during A Greater Penn State encourages us to be bold and ambitious. We must live up, not only to your belief in this University, but also to the dreams of every student, family, and community who trusts us to blaze the trail forward.

I hope that this report conveys Penn State’s deepest thanks for your support of the campaign, and I hope that this message expresses my own profound gratitude for your commitment to A Greater Penn State, now and always.
